Another Perspective on Instagram

       On September 29th I wrote a blog called "The Instagram Joke." This is not a retraction, as I still feel the same way about the ridiculous social media photo app. However, I am writing this now to present a different perspective on the affect Instagram has had on society, especially on the art and craft of photography. CNN Opinion has an article and video feature called "Photographers, Embrace Instagram." The author, Richard Koci Hernandez, talks about how Instagram is just another tool, a means to an end, in the photographic process. Furthermore, he feels this new technology ushers in a change that is not unlike changes of the past, those in favor of newer and easier methods of photography and/or developing film. I enjoyed watching the author talk about his views on photography and how he views Instagram in the changing landscape of photography.
