Infomercials are addictive. A person will spend much more time than intended or needed watching a commercial for a product they don't need and in the end they will pull out the credit card. I have fallen victim to this a few times. By the end of the commercial, or within a certain amount of time, you totally change your mind about the product and the attributes viewed as laughable morph into properties that are incredibly useful; you can think of ten uses for such a product. As I have blogged, I have been duped by Hot Booties and Snap Hooks. Neither product ended up being nearly as useful as I thought they would be.

There are often new products, but there is a steady rotation of old faithfuls. This time of year, Magic Mesh is one such product. It seems like a great idea. A door flap that will create a bug resistant seal the moment after you walk through it. Ideal for taking food from the kitchen to an outdoor eating area when your hands are full. Ideal for pets who wish to run in and out of the house without waiting for a master to open a door. The secret is 18 powerful magnets that snap shut. It is purportedly easy to put up and can stay up all season long. At only $12.99 I may be duped into buying this product if I were a home owner or even if I used my balcony more. However, I would worry that it would end up being an annoyance and perhaps not as easy to walk through and use as advertised. I will reserve my judgement though and be thankful that I have no need for such an item, even after watching many infomercials about the product.
